Research company Curasight has submitted an application for a protocol amendment for the ongoing phase 1 study with the drug candidate uTREAT in glioblastoma. This is stated in a press release. The amendment aims to optimize the study design and provide more data for upcoming clinical studies.Among the proposed changes is that new patients should be treated without opening the blood-brain barrier with mannitol, which creates a separate patient cohort for comparisons. The company also wants to increase the minimum number of patients in the study and introduce general anesthesia during the treatment procedure to improve precision in the administration of uTREAT."The proposed changes aim to strengthen the study's scientific value while exploring the potential of uTREAT without breaking the blood-brain barrier.
